They are known for their farm animals and their awesome pumpkin patch! The pumpkin patch officially opens in October but they have lots of other activities during the earlier fall months. Another celebration going on is the Enchanted: Forest of Life at Descanso Gardens. This event has so many activities for you to participate in. There is everything from fall yoga to bird walks. A special event held on the october 29th is the Dia de Los Muertos Festival held in Fullerton California. This event is focused around Dia de Los Muertos or Day of the Dead. This holiday is celebrated on November 1st and is focused around the celebration of the afterlife. The holiday incorporates lots of foods, colors, and amazing clothing. Many people will have an ofrenda which is a centerpiece created to remember family and friends who have passed. Though this is a cultural holiday that doesn't mean others can't participate in the amazing activities! The Muckenthaler Cultural Center puts on one of the most popular Day of the Dead celebrations in Orange County. They have many activities during the festival. From arts and crafts to live music. Halloween Happenings:
If you do celebrate Halloween there are many activities for you to choose from. If you're looking for a spooky zoo activity look no further than the Santa Ana Zoo. This zoo has a specific event in October called Boo at the Zoo. This event is only going on during the weekend of the 21st and the weekend of the 28th. This celebration is for all ages but is specifically for kids ten and under. This function gives younger kids a chance to trick or treat in a not so scary environment. They also have photo booths and many other family friendly activities!
If you're looking for a scarier more adult catered event look no further than Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights! This function is only for people 13 years and older. This scary event has eight different haunted houses to explore. You do need to buy tickets for each individual haunted house. The terrifying haunted houses offered are the Evil Dead Rise house, the Stranger Things house, The Exorcist house, The Last of Us house, the Chucky house, and the Universal Unmasked haunted house. These all look so fun and it's great that you can choose from any of them. These areas are all themed and are crafted from the movies and television shows related to the haunted houses. This means you can really immerse yourself in the reality of the specific house! This event goes on from the beginning of September to the end of October.
Outdoor Adventures:
Though there aren't many functions catered towards the outdoors. There are lots of places you can go to celebrate fall and nature in Orange County. A trail that looks especially beautiful during the Autumn season is the Irvine Regional Park. For a park there are many activities available. There are equestrian trails which are specifically meant for horse riding which is awesome. Just imagine taking your horse to this astonishing fall landscape with perfect foliage and amazing views. If you also feel like barbecuing you can! This park has many barbecues free to use. Though you are not allowed to camp here you can find many picnic tables to enjoy an amazing picnic. You may also spot a variety of wildlife. Everything from squirrels to deer. They also have paddle boats available to rent and use on their astonishing lake.
Food Festivals:
If you are a foodie then you have definitely come to the right place. Orange County has many many events going on during fall which include or are based around drinks and snacks. One specific celebration for the foodies is the Irvine Global Village Festival. This event is only happening on October 14th from 10 am to 6 pm. Not only does the function include eats from around the globe. It also includes a whole entire market with everything from jewelry to clothing. While you are there you can also enjoy the beautiful live music. With showcases of country rock ‘n’ roll and even pop. This event is kind of like a farmers market but just much bigger. It doesn't matter who you are, you will find some great foods or souvenirs here for you to remember for years to come!
